The Secret to Happiness: Living in Harmony with Yourself

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Muse Vibes! This is episode three—my favorite number. The number three is often considered the perfect number, representing harmony, wisdom, and understanding. May all of you be blessed with each of these today.

Let’s talk about happiness.

There’s an incredible quote from Mahatma Gandhi that says:

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

Notice how this definition of happiness isn’t tied to money, luxury, or power. Instead, it’s about alignment within yourself. Happiness isn’t a physical thing—it’s an emotion, a state of being that starts from within.

Happiness Comes from Action, Not Just Thought

Think about how you feel when you have a long to-do list hanging over your head. Now, think about how good it feels when you finally complete those tasks. There’s a sense of relief, pride, and accomplishment—all because you took action.

It all starts with a thought. You decide what needs to be done, take action, and then experience the reward. Happiness follows the same pattern. It’s not just about thinking or wishing for something—it’s about doing.

Some of the simplest moments bring happiness—dancing, taking a walk in nature, reading, cooking, spending time with friends (or enjoying solitude). These activities bring joy in the present moment, but only if you actually do them.

Happiness Isn’t Found in Things

Sure, I feel happy when I buy a new dress or find the perfect pair of shoes. But those things are temporary—they’re accessories to life, not the foundation of happiness. The problem with relying on material things for joy is that once you have them, you start searching for more. And what happens when there’s nothing left to buy?

You can’t depend on external things or other people to consistently provide happiness. True happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. It’s about living from the inside out—being true to yourself and fulfilling the desires of your heart and mind.

Balance is Key

If I want to go for a walk, I go. If I want to learn a new language, I start. If I want to bake brownies, I do it. But I also know that overindulging in anything can leave me feeling unhappy later. Balance is key. It’s about knowing when to say no to things that don’t serve you—and saying yes to the things that bring peace and happiness.

Listen, do what makes you happy and brings you joy—and understand that those things will change over time. I’ve had so many different dreams, aspirations, and hobbies. Some I pursued fully, some I let go of. But every single one has shaped me into the person I am today, and I’m grateful for every experience.

Happiness is Not Static—It’s a Living Emotion

Happiness isn’t a fixed destination—it’s a feeling that exists only within you. When you are in harmony with yourself, happiness follows.

So, what makes you happy? What brings you joy? If you don’t know, try new things. Experiment with different experiences—learn a new skill, go on a hike, pick up an instrument. You never know what you’ll love until you try.

Happiness and joy come in moments. Sometimes, you need to take small actions to access them—especially when you’re feeling down.

How to Shift into a Happier State

Trust me, I know it’s not always easy. There was a time when I wanted to spend my entire life in bed, shutting out the world. But I learned that even the smallest steps can make a difference.

Here are a few ways to shift your energy when you’re feeling low:

  • Listen to positive content (like this podcast!)
  • Get up and move—take a walk, stretch, or dance
  • Take a shower—literally wash away negative vibes and reset
  • Use self-talk to shift your mood—say things like: “I need to lift my mood. I’m going to get up, shake things off, and do something that makes me happy.”

Even if it’s something as simple as going for a drive or riding your bike—take action.

Live for Today—On Your Terms

One of the worst things you can do is compare yourself to others. We are all unique. If you admire someone’s life, start taking action to create that for yourself—or decide that your path is different, and that’s okay too.

Happiness can be found anywhere, in anything—even in something as small as a flower in your backyard. You just have to want it and then take action to find it.

Accept who you are, exactly where you are. And if you want something different, be open to change. Don’t be afraid to try new things, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support.
